Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal has written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him for the inclusion of Delhi’s Jat community in the Central OBC list.

He said that the decade-long alleged neglect towards the national capital’s Jat community should come to an end now. Highlighting the alleged disparity, he pointed out to the BJP government of reneging on its promise to grant reservation benefits to Delhi’s Jats, who remain excluded from Central OBC advantages in education and jobs, unlike their counterparts in Rajasthan.

Kejriwal further demanded similar inclusion for Rawat, Rauniyar, Raya-Tanwar, Charan, and other castes, which already enjoy OBC status in Delhi Pledging to fight for justice, he called the BJP’s alleged delays as betrayal of the city’s Jat community. He mentioned “Yesterday, I wrote a letter to the Prime Minister. In the letter, I reminded the Prime Minister of the promises made by him and Amit Shah and urged him to fulfill those promises, stating that the Jat community has been betrayed,” he shared.

Addressing a press conference, the AAP supremo alleged that PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP have betrayed the Jat Community over the last 10 years. He said “The Delhi government has an OBC list that includes the Jat community. However, the central government’s OBC list does not include the Jat community of Delhi. When children from Delhi’s Jat community seek admission to Delhi University, they do not receive reservation benefits,” he added.

The AAP chief said, “In universities under the Delhi government, the Jat community of Delhi gets reservation, but when they apply for jobs in Central government institutions like Delhi Police, DDA, or any other central organization, they do not get reservation benefits,” he added.

He claimed,“Before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Amit Shah met with Jat leaders at Parvesh Verma’s residence in Delhi and promised that the Jat community of Delhi would be included in the Central OBC list. Once again, this promise was not kept. Then in 2022, Amit Shah called hundreds of Jat leaders to Delhi, made the same promise, and once again betrayed them,” asserted Arvind Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia stated on his ‘X’ handle (erstwhile Twitter) “For the last 10 years, BJP has been fooling the Jat community of Delhi with deceit and false promises. The name of Jat community is there in the OBC list of Delhi, but not in the OBC list of the Centre. In the last 10 years, Home Minister Amit Shah and the Prime Minister called Jat leaders of Delhi four times and promised to include them in the OBC list of the Centre, but every time they were cheated. It is surprising that the Jats of Rajasthan get reservation in Delhi’s colleges, universities and central government jobs, but the Jats of Delhi get nothing! Why is there such discrimination against the Jats of Delhi? BJP answer?”
